Asics Novablast review: bold and modern!

Between the health crisis and recent fatherhood, it’s been tough to pound the Parisian tarmac lately. So it wasn’t easy to test the new model from the Land of the Rising Sun, the Asics Novablast! Sent to Berlin a few days before the official announcement of lockdown by our then prime minister (it was really time to publish this review), our Don Salluste took all the risks and went there, eager to try on this promising new pair. Spoiler alert, he wasn’t disappointed!

Looks: Asics is clearly breaking new ground with its Novablast. The brand has got us used to rather classic, even not very modern designs. With this new model and its trampoline-like midsole design, Asics is radically changing its structure compared to its classic products and seems to want to take a turn to seduce the younger generations of runners. Well played!

Comfort: For those who can’t run straight, the Novablast features the “GUIDANCE LINE”. This tech improves your stride by optimally guiding the natural movement of your foot. The jacquard mesh is light and breathable thanks to well-thought-out alveoli, ideal for this summer period to avoid stinking up your apartment after each run. The Japanese brand has also opted for an outsole with “AHARPLUS” technology, guaranteeing good ground contact. This material promises a lifespan three times longer than that of materials usually used.

Performance: the Asics Novablast is a shoe designed for speed, which offers a very good energy return. The midsole is equipped with the new “FLYTEFOAM Blast” technology. This provides a ‘spring’ effect that can be close to that felt in the ZoomFly 3 from Nike, and thus offers a responsive stride. The midsole, for its part, contains a third more foam than the classic models from the brand. For more durable comfort and protection, especially on long distances.

Conclusion: the Novablast is ideal for fast runners and urban environments. The bold design of this shoe and its construction offer more bounce and superior energy return, for new running sensations. Lightness, speed and dynamism: the ideal combo for fast-paced sessions!
